The 58-year-old manager succeeds Sabrina Wittmann at the third-tier club.
One day after parting ways with manager Sabrina Wittmann, third-division football club FC Ingolstadt has announced Achim Beierlorzer as her successor. The 58-year-old former Bundesliga manager of 1. FC Köln and Mainz 05 had most recently been managing director at league rivals Jahn Regensburg. The Schanzer did not disclose the length of the contract.
Beierlorzer’s “playing philosophy” fits “very well with our vision of an active, high-intensity style of football”, said Ingolstadt’s sporting director Harald Gärtner, emphasising: “He has a great deal of experience in a variety of situations and has previously been promoted from the third division.” Beierlorzer’s assistant manager will be former Bundesliga professional Markus Feldhoff.
Wittmann leaves after over 100 matches
FCI parted ways with Wittmann as head coach last week. The 35-year-old took over the role in May 2025, initially on an interim basis, and was in charge for a total of 101 matches.
Ingolstadt currently sit 13th in the table with eight points from seven matches. They have lost three of their last four league matches.
Beierlorzer last took charge as interim manager at RB Leipzig in 2021.
