GTA VI: Insider expects online launch in December

Shortly before the originally planned release, the entire gaming world is eagerly awaiting any information on GTA VI. There is a new lead regarding the online spin-off.

The marketing of GTA VI should actually be in the hot phase these days and weeks. After all, Rockstar Games had initially planned to release the highly anticipated game in May 2026. However, the developer had to change its mind. The official release date is now November 19, 2026.

If the second date can be met, the start of the online action in GTA VI is likely to follow only a little later. At least that’s what the well-informed insider ‘TheGhostOfHope’ thinks. In an X-Post, he let his 120,000 or so followers know what he had heard from a source: “The current plan for GTA VI is to launch the online mode within a month of the game’s release.” Specifically, this would mean that fans would still be able to enter the virtual world in 2026.

Prequel as a role model?

Given the launch of GTA V Online around two weeks after the release of the last spin-off in 2013, this information is certainly credible. Especially as ‘TheGhostOfHope’ has already made a name for himself as a leaker. Particularly with regard to Call of Duty, he was often right in the past and knew about new features or major collaborations in advance. Publisher Activision therefore even resorted to legal action.

The online version is one of the absolute success stories in GTA V. 13 years after the release of the last title, numerous fans continue to populate San Andreas. The game world, which is based on California, continues to serve as a playground for activities of all kinds even after the storyline has been completed. Missions, special events, mini-games – the options for activities have hardly run out.

Roleplay as the driving force behind success

Roleplay enjoys great popularity in the GTA online community. Players slip into more or less everyday characters and go about their avatars’ daily work by interacting with other players. In this way, they write their own story far beyond the actual content of the game.

It is likely to be similar in GTA VI – just in a different game environment. Instead of being based on California, this time the developers seem to have been inspired by another US state. The environment seen in the trailer is more reminiscent of Florida. However, this should not detract from the fun of the game.
