At the end of May 2025, Luis Enrique led Paris St. Germain to the long-awaited Champions League title. This is probably one of the reasons why he will soon become the club’s top earner – and that includes world footballer Ousmane Dembelé.
A media report claims that Luis Enrique will soon be earning more money than any player in the French squad. When asked about his exceptional position, the 55-year-old let it slip that he at least cannot complain about his salary. “Of course I’m one of the best-paid coaches in the world. That’s nice for me,” he said about the salary ranking published by French newspaper L’Équipe on Thursday.
In the ranking traditionally calculated by the sports newspaper itself, PSG attacker Dembelé is currently the top earner with 1.5 million euros per month. The top ten in the league alone only includes players from the Champions League winners from the capital. However, their coach Enrique, who is already far ahead of his national coaching colleagues with an estimated gross salary of one million euros per month, could soon be a topic of conversation in the PSG dressing room in view of a planned salary increase – or not?
20 million euros gross under discussion
“Do you think the players are interested in my salary?” said Enrique before the league match against FC Toulouse on Friday. According to media reports, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is currently discussing a salary increase with what he considers to be the “best coach in the world”. L’Équipe is talking about a new contract that would earn Enrique 20 million euros gross per year.
Luis Enrique took up the post in Paris in July 2023 after working as Spain’s national team coach, leaving the Seleccion after the round of 16 exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He not only won the Champions League with PSG, but also became both French champion and cup winner in 2024 and 2025. The FIFA World Coach of the Year 2015 and 2025 currently leads the Ligue 1 table with PSG by one point and one game ahead of their closest rivals RC Lens, with Liverpool FC awaiting them in the quarter-finals of the Premier League.
