Tatjana Maria (38) has to give up hope of a third title at her favorite tournament in Bogotá for the time being.
The former Wimbledon semi-finalist from Bad Saulgau lost 3:6, 3:6 to Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa in the round of 16 and is still searching for her form this year. Maria has lost eight of her last nine matches on the WTA Tour.
She triumphed in the Colombian capital in 2022 and 2023, winning two of her four WTA titles. Following the first-round exit of Ella Seidel (Hamburg), no German is represented at the clay court tournament.
