Former coach at 1860 Munich: Pereira takes over at Nottingham

In the current Premier League season, the coaching position at Nottingham Forest resembles a hot seat. As the club announced on Sunday, Vitor Pereira is taking over the “Tricky Trees” and is tasked with saving the club from relegation. He is already the fourth head coach this season.

Last season, Nottingham Forest finished seventh in the table, just one point behind the top four. While the “Tricky Trees” comfortably qualified for the playoffs in the Europa League (13th place), the current Premier League season has been chaotic. Nottingham currently sits in 17th place in the table and is in acute danger of relegation, just three points ahead of West Ham United.
On the last match day, Nottingham could not get past a 0-0 draw against bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton. Sean Dyche was subsequently forced to step down, having only taken over the club at the end of October. As the English Premier League club has now officially announced, Vitor Pereira will take over the vacant coaching position at the former European Cup winners and has signed a contract until summer 2027.

Fourth coach of the season

Pereira was most recently under contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers between December 2024 and November 2025. The Portuguese coach has an impressive resume and is no stranger to Germany: in 2017, the 57-year-old coached TSV 1860 Munich for almost five months. Prior to that, he was in charge at Fenerbahce, Shanghai Port in China, Olympiacos Piraeus, and FC Porto.
Pereira will make his debut on Thursday (6:45 p.m.) in the Europa League play-offs against his former club Fenerbahce. Just a few days later, the “Tricky Trees” will face Liverpool FC on Sunday.
