Strong Sengfelder leads Ulm to third win in a row

The ratiopharm Ulm basketball team has won its third BBL game of the new season and remains undefeated. However, they struggled for a long time against a courageous Rostock team. It was only shortly before the end that the Swabians turned the game in their favor.

The Rostock Seawolves had to travel over 800 kilometers to play in Ulm – the longest away trip in the BBL! At the start of the game, it certainly looked as if the long bus journey was still taking its toll on the Hanseatic team. In the first ten minutes, they lacked any offensive rhythm across the board. The team managed just ten points in the first quarter and failed to score at all in the final five minutes.

Ulm took advantage of this weak phase and pulled ahead by eight points (18:10). In the second quarter, the Hanseatic team rallied again, but were unable to really close the gap. Shortly before the half-time buzzer, Kolenda scored a three-pointer to bring the score to -3 (36:33).

After the break, both teams sought to gain momentum. Ultimately, however, the pendulum swung in favor of the visitors from Rostock. A layup by the strong Crockett Jr. gave them their first lead since the start of the game. Schwartz and van Vliet immediately increased the lead from distance (52:59).

However, the home team had the last word, finding their footing in the game with a particularly strong defensive performance in the final quarter. On offense, veteran Sengfelder scored the important baskets and regained the lead. Former Rostock player Malik Osborne then extended the lead (80:72). The visitors, on the other hand, were only able to put together a patchwork effort.
