Professional tennis player Eva Lys has safely cleared her first hurdle in Seoul. The 23-year-old from Hamburg defeated Ashlyn Krueger of the United States 6-3, 6-4 at the tournament in South Korea to reach the round of 16.

There, Lys will now face Denmark’s Clara Tauson, seeded third. Laura Siegemund (Metzingen) and Ella Seidel (Hamburg) are also competing in the tournament.

Lys had already shown herself to be in good form recently. She won her first-round match at the US Open, but then had to retire in the second round against Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic due to physical problems after losing the first set.
