Due to knee injury: Havertz already operated on

Kai Havertz has already had to withdraw from upcoming international matches due to a knee injury. Now the Arsenal pro has had to undergo surgery.

It just hasn’t been Kai Havertz’s year so far: the German international was already sidelined for three months in the spring due to a thigh injury and only returned to the pitch for Arsenal in the last two games of the second half of the season.

Now the new Premier League season is only two matchdays old—and Havertz is already missing again. Due to a knee injury, the 26-year-old was not in the squad for Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Leeds United and has already canceled his participation in Germany’s World Cup qualifiers in early September.

Only one real striker for Arsenal

While the extent of the injury has still not been publicly defined, at least the offensive player’s next steps have now been decided. As the Gunners officially announced, Havertz has opted for minor surgery on his knee to treat the injury – but the North London club does not expect him to be out for long.

Due to the German international’s injury, Arsenal will only have Viktor Gyökeres available as a genuine number nine for the time being. Gabriel Jesus (cruciate ligament rupture) is not expected to make his comeback until September at the earliest.
