Loan with option to buy: Milan agrees with Bayer on Boniface

AC Milan wants to sign Victor Boniface. The Leverkusen striker still has to clarify contract details with the Italians. Bayer 04 and Milan have agreed in principle on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Bayer 04 is about to lose another player from its 2024 double-winning team. AC Milan is working hard to sign center forward Victor Boniface. However, the 24-year-old still has to reach a final agreement with the Italians. Negotiations between the clubs, which were first reported by Italian sources, have already resulted in an agreement on a loan with an option to buy for the Nigerian international.

A direct purchase is out of the question for Milan

Rumors of Milan’s interest in Boniface had already been circulating at the beginning of July. At that time, however, only a sale of Boniface, whose contract in Leverkusen runs until at least 2028, was considered an option. A permanent transfer is still out of reach for the former Champions League winner, who has missed out not only on qualifying for the Champions League but also on every other European competition.

But now Bayer is willing to loan him out with an option to buy. The transfer fee ultimately negotiated will in any case be significantly lower than the amount the club had agreed with Al-Nassr for Boniface in the winter. In January, Cristiano Ronaldo’s club had offered well over 60 million euros before the Saudi Pro League club pulled out after the agreement had been reached.

The purchase option is slightly below 30 million euros

A package between 30 and 35 million euros is now on the table. The purchase option is said to be slightly below 30 million euros. Milan is not obliged to buy.
