John Cena will face Logan Paul in his final match on the Old Continent. WWE Champion Cody Rhodes will also be embroiled in a new feud on SmackDown.
Departing WWE megastar John Cena will get one last high-profile match on European soil.
At Clash in Paris on August 31, the league’s record champion will face social media phenomenon Logan Paul. This was revealed on Friday night’s episode of SmackDown.
WWE SmackDown: Logan Paul takes on John Cena
Cena, who has recently regained his status as a fan favorite, opened the show and licked his wounds after losing the title to Cody Rhodes and the surprise attack by the returning Brock Lesnar — but not without seeking a new challenge for the big event in France.
Paul faced Cena and engaged in a verbal duel with the superstar, who is retiring at the end of the year. Before the match was set, Cena was attacked from behind by Paul’s ally Drew McIntyre, prompting champion Rhodes to come to Cena’s aid.
SmackDown featured a tag team match between Cena and Rhodes and Paul and McIntyre as a preview. Cena and Rhodes won by disqualification when Paul hit Cena with a low blow.
