Borussia Mönchengladbach has allowed Tomas Cvancara to join Antalyaspor. The club will receive a loan fee of an estimated €750,000 and will save his entire salary. How all sides can benefit from the loan deal.
The second part of Gladbach’s double deal with Haris Tabakovic and Tomas Cvancara is now complete. However, confirmation from both clubs is still pending. As reported, Cvancara is moving to the Turkish first division club on a season-long loan. A purchase option has not been agreed.
Alassane Plea is set to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach, while Tim Kleindienst is out with injury until November. Fohlen reporter Jan Lustig explains who Borussia could bring in as a replacement.
Cvancara’s decision to seek a change of scenery and a fresh start outside Borussia Park is probably the most sensible solution. The situation with the Czech player had become untenable. Cvancara was carrying a lot of frustration with him after two years in Gladbach, which had been marked by many disappointments and setbacks.
Despite Tim Kleindienst’s long absence and the departure of Alassane Plea, he didn’t see much of a future for himself in the offense for the new season. And his decision to leave the Bundesliga is understandable—it will allow the 24-year-old to start his new job completely unburdened and start from scratch.
In the Süper Lig, the striker wants to get back to the form he showed during his time at Sparta Prague. To a level that made him so interesting for Borussia and other clubs at the time. In 2023, Gladbach paid a proud €10.5 million for Cvancara – the striker is now a long way from such market value spheres.
No purchase option
Hence Borussia’s hope that Cvancara will regain his former strength in Turkey and his market value will rise again. In the best-case scenario, Gladbach will even get back a striker who promises to strengthen the team in a year’s time. The agreement without a purchase option ensures that Borussia will keep their hand on the player. If the plan works, all sides will benefit. Cvancara’s contract in Gladbach runs until 2028.
