2026 MotoGP calendar unveiled: Start in Thailand, comeback in Brazil

The 2026 MotoGP calendar has been finalized: It will begin on March 1 in Thailand, as it did this year, and end after 22 Grands Prix on November 22 in Valencia, as is traditional.

The FIM, together with Dorna Sports, the promoter of the MotoGP World Championship, published the provisional calendar for the 2026 season on Thursday. As in the previous year, the season will comprise 22 race weekends, including a total of eight double-header events.

As in the previous year and continuing through 2027, Buriram will host the season opener with the Thai Grand Prix on the weekend of March 1.

The first major change for the 2026 season comes right after the second spot on the calendar: Argentina is out, and the Brazilian Grand Prix is returning to the championship after 22 years. The race will take place on March 22 at the Ayrton Senna Autodromo in Goiania, in the interior of South America.

This will be followed by the first doubleheader of the season, the Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin on March 29. After the stops in Asia and America, the championship will take a week’s break before moving on to the Middle East for the Qatar Grand Prix on April 12, concluding the traditional start of the season outside Europe.

As is now customary, the European part of the season will begin with the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez on April 26. From then on, it’s full steam ahead with three double-headers: Le Mans and Barcelona, Italy and Hungary, Brno and Assen.

This will be followed on July 12 by the German Grand Prix at the Sachsenring, which marks the end of the first half of the season and the start of the summer break.

After the summer break, the British Grand Prix will return to August due to this year’s poor experience in May, specifically from August 7 to 9. The Aragon Grand Prix, which was originally on the brink of being canceled, will remain on the calendar and will be held on Sunday, August 30.

In September, the doubleheaders will continue: Misano and Austria, which has been moved from its usual August date to September 20. The championship then leaves Europe again and begins its Asian tour with the Grands Prix of Japan – recently extended until 2030 – and Indonesia.

This will be followed by races in Australia on October 25 and Malaysia on November 1. Finally, the championship returns to Europe for the last two race weekends: as this year, in Portimao and Valencia.

Valencia will once again host the season finale on November 22. In addition, the first official test of the 2027 season with the new regulation bikes will take place on the same track the following Tuesday.
