There has been much speculation about the relationship between Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz. Now the British player has commented on it for the first time.
When asked about Carlos Alcaraz, Emma Raducanu started to grin. “We’re just good friends,” said the Brit at Wimbledon with a laugh, dispelling the numerous speculations surrounding the relationship between the two tennis pros.
Since the announcement that five-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz (22) and Raducanu (22) will compete together in the mixed doubles competition at the US Open at the end of August, the rumor mill has been in overdrive.
The two fueled the speculation by training together at the All England Club on Friday. However, Raducanu clarified that the reason for their appearance was a mutual sponsor.

“We just did a little volley training before New York. Yes, I’m obviously very excited to play with him. Yes, we had a lot of fun yesterday,” said the 2021 US Open winner, who recently watched Alcaraz play at London’s Queen’s Club.
The reformed mixed doubles competition at Flushing Meadows is attracting numerous stars with prize money of $1 million for the winning pair and a new format. Alcaraz said after the announcement that he had asked Raducanu to play with him in the tournament.
“I’m really excited. I think it’s going to be great,” Alcaraz said recently: “I’ll try to bring my skills to the doubles. We’ll try to win, but of course it’s going to be really, really fun.”
