Historic event takes shape

WWE rival AEW has confirmed the two main matches for its first stadium show in the US at Double or Nothing. Hangman Page and Mercedes Moné will compete for the world titles in their respective divisions.

The main match for the biggest AEW show of the year has been confirmed: Hangman Page won the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at AEW Double or Nothing on Saturday night and is once again going for the WWE rival’s World Title.

In a match that was outstanding as expected, Page defeated British wrestler Will Ospreay and will challenge champion Jon Moxley at All In on July 12 at the Texas Rangers’ MLB arena in Arlington.

AEW also secured a second big match for its historic first stadium show in the US: Mercedes Moné, formerly Sasha Banks, won the women’s tournament with a final victory over Jamie Hayter and will challenge women’s champion Toni Storm, who defeated Japan’s Mina Shirakawa on Saturday, in Arlington.

AEW Double or Nothing: Page wins dream final

Page and Ospreay fought a thrilling, action-packed 25-minute battle at the end of the show. The highlight came at the end when both wrestlers tried to defeat their opponent with the signature moves of their respective rivals, Kenny Omega (Ospreay) and Swerve Strickland (Page). In the end, Page triumphed with his own finisher, the Buckshot Lariat – after the fight, there was a respectful and cheered handshake between the two top stars.

Page, who despite the dark moments he showed last year in his epic feud with Strickland, has recently reemerged as a fan favorite, could reach the top of the league for the second time since 2022 in Arlington.

Moxley, formerly Dean Ambrose of WWE, did not defend his title on Saturday, but was involved in the co-main event, a spectacularly chaotic “Anarchy in the Arena Match”: Moxley’s Death Riders teamed up with the Young Bucks and faced Strickland, Omega, Willow Nightingale, and the trio The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Japanese idol Katsuyori Shibata).

Strickland’s team won when they locked the Death Riders in an ambulance and isolated them, thus dispatching the Bucks. Earlier, the recently injured Hook made a dramatic return, knocking down Claudio Castagnoli of the Death Riders with a golf club, but then glaring at his former Opps teammate Joe and walking away—signs of tension within the group.
