After a two-month break, Miguel Oliveira is back in action at the MotoGP race in France – His adaptation to the Yamaha will continue
Miguel Oliveira will make his comeback this weekend at the Grand Prix in Le Mans after an injury break. The Portuguese rider was injured in an accident with Fermin Aldeguer in the sprint in Argentina.
He suffered a complex shoulder dislocation between his sternum and left collarbone. His left arm had to be immobilized before Oliveira could begin rehabilitation and training.
At the end of last week, Oliveira underwent magnetic resonance imaging in Milan. The examination confirmed that the injury to his left shoulder has completely healed.
On Thursday, he will undergo a check-up by the MotoGP doctors, who must give him the green light to participate in the race weekend. Oliveira’s entourage is confident that everything will go well.
The injury occurred on March 15. If everything goes according to plan, he will be back on his Pramac Yamaha for training at Le Mans on May 9. His recovery break lasted around two months. He has missed three race weekends.
“After two months, I’m back,” Oliveira wrote on Instagram. “I’m looking forward to returning to Le Mans. It’s been weeks of hard work, preparation, and concentration. Now it’s time to get back to doing what I love most.”
While Oliveira was sidelined, he was replaced in the Pramac team by Yamaha test rider Augusto Fernandez. At the season opener in Qatar, the only Grand Prix Oliveira has contested on the Yamaha M1 so far, he finished 14th.
Yamaha recently tested a new engine specification during Monday’s test after the race weekend in Jerez. Teammate Jack Miller also rode the new engine. The plan is to use this specification at Le Mans.
