Zverev watches blond Alcaraz’s show

On the first day, Germany’s tennis star Alexander Zverev still has to watch. Nevertheless, things are going very well for the Europeans—thanks in part to Carlos Alcaraz.

Team Europe goes into day two of the Laver Cup in San Francisco with a lead. After the first four matches, the Europeans, led by US Open winner Carlos Alcaraz, are ahead 3-1.

Germany’s tennis star Alexander Zverev has not yet seen any action.

Norway’s Casper Ruud and Jakub Mensik from Czechia secured Europe’s first two points with their two singles victories.

Laver Cup: Fonseca closes the gap – but Alcaraz counters in doubles

After Brazilian top talent Joao Fonseca won the first point for the World Team in his singles match against Italy’s Flavio Cobolli, the blond-haired Alcaraz put on a bit of a show and, alongside Mensik, restored the old lead in the doubles against the American duo Taylor Fritz and Alex Michelsen with a 7-6 (9-7) 6:4 to restore the old lead.

On Saturday, there will be three singles and one doubles match again, but now there are two points for each win.

A team must reach 13 points to win the overall title. The Laver Cup ends on Sunday, and in 2026 the competition will take place in London once again.
