Würzburg’s Gielo moves to Greece

Würzburg part ways with Polish international Tomasz Gielo. The 29-year-old winger is moving to Greece with immediate effect.

Würzburg announced on Wednesday that the contract with Gielo was terminated by mutual agreement. The new club was not named. Gielo had only been signed as a replacement in October following Nicolas Carvacho’s knee injury. Since then, he has played in all twelve of Würzburg’s competitive matches. Gielo scored just under ten points per game in 24 minutes of average playing time.

“We didn’t want to put any obstacles in Tomasz’s way when the offer from Greece came. He is a good player, has always worked hard and behaved absolutely professionally. But his way of playing doesn’t fit our system so well since our new head coach is here,” said manager Kresimir Loncar.

The Würzburg team parted ways with Denis Wucherer a few weeks ago and signed Sasa Filipovski as his successor.
