World number one Iga Swiatek from Poland has continued her successful run this tennis year and also won the tournament in San Diego, California.
The 21-year-old beat Croatian qualifier Donna Vekic (26) 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 in 107 minutes in the final on Sunday (local time).
For Swiatek, who also won the French Open and the US Open in 2022, it was her eleventh title on the WTA Tour. She celebrated eight tournament victories this year alone. Only Martina Hingis (2000), Serena Williams (2002, 2013), Kim Clijsters (2003, 2005) and Justin Henin (2003, 2007) achieved this feat in this millennium.
