There has been a huge rush for World Cup tickets in the first sales phase. In the first 24 hours, there were already 1.5 million applications. There is one special feature, however.
According to FIFA, more than 1.5 million fans from 210 countries registered in the first 24 hours of registration for the ticket lottery for next year’s World Cup. The World Cup countries USA, Mexico, and Canada, as well as defending champions Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil, are showing the greatest interest. In Europe, England, Spain, Portugal, and Germany are in the lead.
Those who are lucky in the random selection process will receive an email on September 29 informing them of a date and time slot for ticket sales. From October 1, individual tickets for all 104 World Cup matches will be available for selection. However, FIFA cannot guarantee that everyone will be able to purchase tickets. In addition, the package will include tickets for the venues and the preliminary round matches of the three host countries.
FIFA official Schirgi raves
“The large number of applications submitted is testament to the enormous enthusiasm that the FIFA World Cup 26 has generated worldwide and to the fact that it will be a turning point in the history of soccer,” FIFA official Heimo Schirgi is quoted as saying in the announcement.
The second registration phase is expected to take place from October 27 to 31, before sales begin between mid-November and early December. Phase three will begin after the group draw on December 5 in Washington. Fans will then also be able to apply for specific matches.
