Carlo Ancelotti? A “synonym for success,” according to the Brazilian Football Confederation, which has announced the Italian as the new head coach of the Selecao. But can Ancelotti really lead Brazil to the World Cup title?
No nation has triumphed more often in the World Cup than Brazil. The Selecao has been crowned world champion five times – but its last success was 23 years ago (in Japan and South Korea in 2002). Instead, the last two editions of the tournament in 2022 and 2018 ended in the quarter-finals.
In the future, Carlo Ancelotti is now tasked with leading the Brazilian national team back to more successful times. The 66-year-old will take over the Selecao in the summer, leaving Real Madrid as expected. “The greatest national team in soccer history will now be led by the most successful coach in the world,” said the national association, celebrating the Italian’s signing.
But does that also mean sporting success? Will Ancelotti lead Brazil to its sixth World Cup title? We want to know what you think:
