Andy Murray Eastbourne

Andy Murray vs Kyle Edmund odds and prediction

Whilst most sports fans have been getting excited about the action at the football World Cup, tennis fans have been waiting with anticipation for this year’s Wimbledon Championship. If the weather stays like it has been in the UK, there will be no singing in the rain for Cliff Richard this time around!

British tennis fans have been following Andy Murray’s recovery from his hip operation, which has been a slow and painful process for the former world number one. However, just a week before Wimbledon is due to start, Murray is finding form on the court. The Eastbourne tournament is the perfect warm-up for Wimbledon and if ever Murray needed some playing time, it is now.

Murray beats Stan Wawrinka after a year of misery

Andy Murray had not won a match for almost a year when he stepped out at Eastbourne against three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka. It was only his second match in a year, following a period of rehabilitation following hip surgery. In convincing fashion, he was able to defeat Wawrinka 6-1 6-3, giving himself more opportunity to prove his fitness before Wimbledon.

Murray to play Kyle Edmund in next round

Whilst Murray has been out of action, Kyle Edmund has replaced him as GB number one, so this draw will have added interest. Whether Murray can handle so many games in quick succession after such a long period out, will be the biggest question. He will be hoping that he can make his fairy tale comeback at his home Grand Slam, the place where he has enjoyed so many momentous occasions in his glittering career so far. Edmund is currently ranked at number 18 so this will be a real test for Murray.
