Pissed off at the computerised video evidence, top-seeded tennis doubles pair Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury temporarily refused to continue their match during their quarter-final win at Wimbledon.
The duo from the USA and Great Britain guessed a shot by opponents Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France was out of bounds towards the end of the second set. However, the so-called Hawk-Eye showed that the ball had still touched the line.
Ram and Salisbury had a long discussion with the chair umpire afterwards. “We are turning off the machine. We are not in the future here,” Ram scolded. It was only after the head umpire appeared on the pitch that the situation slowly calmed down. Ram and Salisbury then lost the set in a tie-break but won the match 6-3, 6-7 (1-7), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 to reach the semifinals.
