“We are very proud”: Alba’s da Silva moves to Barcelona

Oscar da Silva is leaving Alba Berlin after just one season. The 23-year-old joins Spanish top club FC Barcelona

Alba Berlin confirmed the departure of the forward on Monday morning. Da Silva had only joined the defending champions in the capital a year ago – accompanied by some side noises – from the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg. After a successful season with a championship title and a cup win, he is moving to Euroleague rival Barcelona.

“We are very proud of Oscar and the way he has developed with us in just one season. He has showcased his skills expressively this season and has grown as an athlete and a person,” Berlin’s sporting director Himar Ojeda was quoted as saying in a statement.

Da Silva himself emphasised: “It is with a laughing and a crying eye that I open a new sporting chapter today, but I will be forever grateful to you for the chance to develop in such a way and at the same time to have such joy in doing so.” He thanked the “entire Alba family”.
