Vlahovic’s epidemic season continues

Dusan Vlahovic’s torrid season continues. The Serbian had barely returned after a month-long forced absence when he suffered another injury: he will now miss another three to four weeks for Juve.

2025/26 will probably not be remembered fondly by Dusan Vlahovic. In the summer, the Serbian, who is Juventus’ top earner with an annual salary of twelve million euros, was still considered a candidate for sale, as his contract expires in the summer and he refused to extend it early. However, no takers were found for the 26-year-old, who then came back into focus, scoring as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Parma on matchday one and 1-0 in Genoa on matchday two.

Under Luciano Spalletti, the striker finally played his way back into the starting eleven for the Old Lady, but then suffered an adductor injury in the 2-1 defeat to Cagliari Calcio at the end of November, which turned out to be particularly persistent.

After a lengthy period of rehabilitation, the Serbian returned to training at the beginning of February – and finally returned at the end of March in the 1-1 draw against Sassuolo, when he came on as a substitute in the 79th minute. Vlahovic was supposed to come on again as a substitute in the second half against Genoa, but he injured his calf in the warm-up and had to pull out.

Contract negotiations have been ongoing for some time

The Gazzetta dello Sport is now reporting that Vlahovic could be out for up to four weeks as a result. This means that he will miss Juve’s upcoming games in Bergamo, against Bologna and against Milan. It is also questionable whether he will be able to help the current fifth-placed team in Serie A (57 points), who are in an exciting race with Como (58), Roma (54) and Bergamo (53) for fourth place and thus a place in the Champions League. His four-month absence and the new injury in particular cast doubt on this.

There is also the question of his future. His contract still expires in the summer, but it was recently reported that Juve and Vlahovic have been negotiating for some time and that progress has been made, especially as the 26-year-old would like to stay in Turin. Should this come to pass, however, it would probably be on significantly lower wages than he currently receives.
