20-year old Max Verstappen is a Belgian-Dutch Formula One racing driver competing under the Dutch Flag. The son of former Formula One racer Jos Verstappen began go-karting at just aged 4 and a half. At the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, he was the youngest driver to ever compete in Formula at the age of 17. Not only this but he is the youngest driver to set the fastest lap during a Formula One Grand Prix. In 2016, he replaced Danil Kvyat at Red Bull going onto winning the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix in his debut race for them at 18.

Max has had a disordered campaign so far this year. He retired in two races and was involved in notable incidents within all five races until now. As a result of this, he is being criticised for his aggressive driving style. Fortunately, he earned himself a podium finish in Barcelona last weekend. Verstappen ended up third at the Spanish Grand Prix. He fended off the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel with damage to his front wing following a clash with Lance Stroll.

His father Jos Verstappen raced 107 times with teams such as Terrell, Stewart Ford and Arrows. He thinks his son can finally win again at Monaco on May 27th because of the circuit better suiting Red Bull’s RB14 racing car.

“I understand that everyone likes the podium, but we want more,” Jos told Ziggo Sport. ”If we can make it to the front row during qualifying, Max can win every race. Because of these front wings, it’s just incredibly hard to overtake.

People are saying that Max needs eradicate his aggressive style in order to win, Verstappen senior tipped the 20-year-old to keep his foot on the throttle. We just want to win. That’s why I’m looking at Monaco.

“The engine is not that important – the car is important there. And in the slow corners, Red Bull is really the best,” Jos said.
