US Open: Alexa Greenfield – the woman who got caught dipping chicken in soda

Alexa GREENFIELD

Sports cameras catch all sorts of unusual moments, but a woman dipping her chicken finger in a glass of soda ranks high up on the list.

Alexa Greenfield is the name of the woman who went viral after getting caught by the US Open camera indulging in such an extremely weird habit. She was ripped apart by social media’s “expert” critics, who couldn’t believe she would do such a thing in front of her children. Only they weren’t her children, but her nephews. She also warned them about it.

“I’m about to do something really weird, it’s a really big secret, you can’t tell anyone,”

“I’m a little embarrassed about it. Keep it on the down-low.”

Then she made her popular chicken dunk move, completely unaware of US Open’s lurking camera.

She said this was something she had been doing her entire life because she simply liked the taste of it. She actually doesn’t even drink Coke, she just buys it for chicken dipping purposes.

Her nephews thought what she did was gross, and so did most of the Internet.

Greenfield owns a chocolate company, meaning she had always had a sweet tooth. Though by dunking chicken into soda she’s probably taken it a step too far. Or maybe not. Who knows? She might even make a business out of it. This is America after all.

US Open Wednesday schedule

Meanwhile, the US Open resumes as planned. Today’s schedule brings us the first quarter-finals. In the men’s section, Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori battle for a semi-final spot, where one of them will probably meet Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, who is the huge favourite against John Millman.

In the women’s section, Naomi Osaka continues her pursuit of becoming the first Japanese Grand Slam winner when she takes on Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko. Later in the day, Carla Suarez Navarro, who beat Maria Sharapova in the previous round, faces last year’s US Open finalist Madison Keys.
