Unseeded Collins wins Masters in Miami

This is a surprise: Danielle Collins from the USA beats the favorite Yelena Rybakina in the Miami final and celebrates the biggest title of her career

American Danielle Collins has crowned her surprising triumph at the Tennis Masters in Miami with victory in the final.

In her first final at a WTA 1000 tournament, the world number 53 beat the favored Kazakh Yelena Rybakina 7:5, 6:3. After 2:02 hours, Collins converted her fourth match point to win. The 30-year-old, who wants to end her career at the end of the season, was only the third unseeded player to reach a final in Miami.

In the men’s final on Sunday, Australian Open winner Jannik Sinner from Italy and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov will face each other. Dimitrov had defeated the German Olympic champion Alexander Zverev in three sets in the semi-finals and had also surprisingly knocked the Spanish world number two Carlos Alcaraz out of the competition in the previous round. However, Sinner is the clear favorite
