Unions Friedrich tested positive for Corona

Union Berlin defender Marvin Friedrich has tested positive for the Corona virus. The 25-year-old is out for the upcoming matches.

Friedrich had taken a Corona test late on Tuesday evening after experiencing symptoms of a cold, which came back positive. Initially, all Union players had tested negative after Saturday’s match against VfL Wolfsburg, following the positive test result of Wölfe striker Wout Weghorst. According to the club, Friedrich has had no contact with his teammates since the symptoms began.

Friedrich, who has played twelve competitive games for the Eisern so far this season and is one of the regulars, is therefore certain to miss the Conference League match against Feyenoord Rotterdam on Thursday (6.45pm). An appearance on Sunday (5.30 p.m.) against VfB Stuttgart is also highly unlikely.
