Super Samoan to fight on home ground

‘Super Samoan’ Mark Hunt is a New Zealander but resides in Sydney, so the fight will be a home fight for him. He is currently ranked the number 10 heavyweight with a record of 13-13-1.

Willis gets his first high profile fight

His opponent Justin Willis has a record of 6-1-0 and is ranked at number 15 of the heavyweights. This will be the biggest fight of Willis’ career, whilst it could be the very last fight of Hunt’s career as his contract runs out after this event. Hunt’s recent form has seen him lose three of his last four fights, which have been as a result of being out-grappled. The match up against Willis should make for an exciting fight though.

The end of Hunt’s long and successful career

Hunt would love to go out with a win in front of a home crowd and there is a very good chance that he will get that opportunity. Now aged 44, Hunt doesn’t have the same energy as he had at his prime but he has achieved some amazing things over his career. He started boxing in 1998, so his fighting career has stemmed 20 years – not bad for such demanding sports!

So Australian fans will get to see him bow out in December, as he brings the curtain down on an outstanding career that has seen him succeed in boxing, kickboxing and MMA.
