Madrid – Tunisian Ons Jabeur has won the tennis tournament in Madrid. The 27-year-old beat Jessica Pegula from the USA 7-5, 0-6, 6-2 in the final to celebrate the biggest success of her career so far.
Jabeur is the first player from an Arab country to win a tournament in the WTA 1000 category. The Tunisian also played her way into the favourites’ circle for the French Open in Paris. The second Grand Slam tournament of the season starts on 22 May.
