The basketball players from Trier are causing a sensation in the Bundesliga as newcomers. Now the club is extending its contract with its successful coach.
Bundesliga club VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier has extended its contract with promotion coach Jacques Schneider ahead of schedule by two more years until 2028. The club announced this on the sidelines of its home game against Telekom Baskets Bonn.
Schneider moved to the city on the Moselle in 2023. He initially worked there as an assistant coach in the second-tier ProA, and in his first season as head coach last season, he led Trier to promotion. Schneider proved during the promotion season “that he is exactly the right man for our location,” said Achim Schmitz, president and managing director of the Gladiators.

Things are also going really well for Trier in the Basketball Bundesliga under Schneider: The newcomer is among the top teams in the BBL and has been the surprise team of the season so far. “I am very happy about the early contract extension, especially because it shows that here in Trier we don’t just talk about big goals, we also pursue them consistently,” said Schneider. The coach emphasized that the development in Trier is not yet complete.
