Tigges again at the top of the list in Cologne

Steffen Tigges is again at the top of Steffen Baumgart’s wish list. The total package would fit for 1. FC Köln.

Around eleven months ago, FC Köln reported on Steffen Tigges. The 23-year-old centre forward of the second team of Dortmund Borussia had been chosen by coach Steffen Baumgart (50) to complement Anthony Modeste (34). Baumgart did not lose sight of his plan with two top players. And that’s why the striker is now once again at the top of the FC coach’s list.

Typical wall player with enormous disruptive qualities

The 1.93-metre tall Dortmund player is a typical wall player who is good at holding and laying off balls, but above all – despite all his footballing merits – he is regarded as an absolute workhorse who always runs at the opponent’s build-up and displays enormous disruptive qualities. It is not only because he is a master of Baumgart’s favourite discipline that he is in such high demand in the cathedral city.

The coach is convinced that Tigges has not yet exhausted his potential, he sees him as a professional with development potential who also has the advantage of not breaking the financial framework of the cash-strapped Cologne club. Dortmund are likely to be interested in loaning him out, even at a reasonable price.

In Cologne, he can get match practice at Bundesliga level, since the player has not played the ball since he broke his left ankle in March.
