Three Germans fight for European bronze

The German wrestlers can hope for their first medal at the European Championships in Budapest.

The German wrestlers can hope for their first medal at the European Championships in Budapest. With Elena Brugger, Anastasia Blayvas and Lisa Ersel three starters of the DRB team reached the small final and will fight for bronze on Thursday evening.

Brugger (Adelhausen) lost in the semi-finals of the 59 kg category to Olympic silver medallist Anastasia Nichita (Republic of Moldova) and will now meet Aljona Kolesnik (Azerbaijan), against whom she had already lost in her first bout – because only seven women had entered, there was no knockout system.

Ersel (Berlin/50 kg) lost her opening duel against Evin Demirhan (Turkey) 2:11, but due to the small number of participants she was immediately in the fight for bronze. Her opponent there is the Romanian Emilia Vuc.

Anastasia Blayvas (Leipzig/55 kg) had no chance in the quarter-final against Andrea Ana (Romania) with an early 0:10. Because Ana reached the final, Blayvas will fight for bronze against Maria Dragutan from Moldova.
