Dennis Schröder failed to score a single point for the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6, something that hasn’t happened in the playoffs in a long time. The German had a rough game at times.
It was the German’s 87th playoff game, and for the first time in over three years, the Braunschweig native failed to score. The Cavs lost 94-115 and must now head into a Game 7. In 15 minutes, the national team player missed all four of his shots and also committed three turnovers, all in the first quarter.
Some were minor mistakes—once a traveling violation, another time a rare double-dribble. This did little to help the offense, even though Schröder managed to earn a few points on the defensive end with his energy and hustle.
On offense, however, Schröder remained unlucky. He drove successfully into the paint three times but had virtually no chance of getting his shots to fall against the Pistons’ strong defense. His only three-pointer also rimmed out.
Schröder Scores Zero Points for the First Time Since 2023
The last time the 32-year-old failed to score was in 2023, back when he was still wearing the Los Angeles Lakers jersey in the first round against the Memphis Grizzlies (twice). In total, this was the seventh playoff game without Schröder scoring. This happened three times while he was with the Lakers (2021, 2023) and three times during his time with the Atlanta Hawks (2014, 2015, 2016).
In Detroit, Schröder’s role is significantly smaller than in previous years; he is playing as little as he did during his rookie season in Atlanta. In 13 games, Schröder averages 15.9 minutes on the court, contributing 6.3 points and 2.2 assists with a field goal percentage of just under 40 percent.
