Tennis: Alcaraz Set to Return in Cincinnati

The top star, who has been sidelined by injury for a long time, is on the entry list for the Masters in August. Will he be able to get back in shape before the U.S. Open?

Carlos Alcaraz may return to the tennis tour at the Masters in Cincinnati next month. The Spaniard, who has been sidelined since April due to an injury to his right wrist, is on the entry list for the tournament running August 13–23. Should Alcaraz make his comeback in Cincinnati, he could gain some match practice ahead of the U.S. Open (August 31–September 13).

Alcaraz, who has since dropped to No. 3 in the world rankings behind Germany’s top player, Alexander Zverev, has not played on the tour since mid-April. He withdrew from his home tournament in Barcelona due to pain in his wrist.

The 23-year-old prodigy recently missed not only the French Open but also the highlight of the season at Wimbledon. His goal remains the final Grand Slam tournament of the year in New York, which he won in 2025 against the current world No. 1, Jannik Sinner (Italy).
