Soccer meets MotoGP: How Cristiano Ronaldo is now helping Fermin Aldeguer

Fermin Aldeguer and Cristiano Ronaldo have more in common than you might think – the MotoGP star is relying on the world footballer’s technology for his recovery

Fermin Aldeguer has announced his admission to the Advanced Recovery for Athletes (AVA) rehabilitation center. AVA is a project that world football star Cristiano Ronaldo launched last year.

According to its website, the recovery center builds on the experience, deep understanding of the needs of athletes and the tireless will to innovate of the Portuguese footballer, who is about to participate in his sixth World Cup.

Aldeguer suffered a broken left leg on January 8 while training on a street bike at the Aspar Circuit in Valencia. This serious injury prompted him to focus everything on a single goal: to recover as quickly as possible.

He studied intensively the best methods and equipment to shorten the recovery time. This interest led the Spaniard to equip his private gym with state-of-the-art equipment.

This led Aldeguer to get to know several rehabilitation centers, including Ronaldo’s. This led to a collaboration that resulted in the Spaniard joining the AVA athlete squad.

The athlete squad at Ronaldo’s rehabilitation center includes numerous athletes from a wide range of disciplines, including track and field athletes, footballers and Formula E driver Antonio Felix da Costa.

“Ronaldo’s company has the latest and most advanced technology for physical improvement and recovery,” Hector Faubel, Aldeguer’s manager, told Motorsport.com Spain.

As part of this agreement, Aldeguer has all the company’s services at his disposal: specialized professionals and equipment. A significant part of this has been made available to him and has already been installed in his home so that he can use the equipment on a daily basis.

“At the moment, Aldeguer has practically the same equipment at home as CR7, including a pressure chamber to help him recover faster after races and stay in better physical condition,” adds his manager.

“Fermin has always shown great curiosity and a strong desire to understand his body and manage it in the best possible way. He uses all the equipment and machines available to him to do this.“

”He doesn’t have the goal of staying active until 40 like Ronaldo, but he wants to have a long career without permanent physical damage,” emphasizes Faubel. Aldeguer celebrated his 21st birthday on Easter Sunday. He is currently the second youngest MotoGP race winner in history.

MotoGP riders have been confronted with ever-increasing physical demands in recent years and are therefore paying increasing attention to their fitness and recovery programs. One of the best-known centers is Red Bull’s Athlete Performance Center in Salzburg.

However, other riders such as Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin are also focusing on setting up their own training and recovery facilities at home or promoting centers such as the “OnFit 89 Lab”. This is a chain of gyms based on the methods and experience that the Aprilia rider has gained during his career and after several serious injuries.
