Due to heavy rain in Paris, the match will be played at short notice with the roof closed on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
On the big stage to the semifinals: Laura Siegemund is aiming for her second mixed doubles title at the French Open.
Partnering French local hero Edouard Roger-Vasselin, the German won 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 after nearly two hours of play against the fourth-seeded pair of Desirae Krawczyk of the U.S. and Neal Skupski of Great Britain. Siegemund and Roger-Vasselin had already defeated this duo in the final during their triumph in Paris two years ago.
Defending champions await Siegemund in the semifinals
Due to heavy rain in Paris, the match was moved to Court Philippe-Chatrier at the last minute. There, Alexander Zverev had previously won 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, 6-3 against Spanish teenager Rafael Jódar after a dominant performance, reaching the men’s semifinals.
Siegemund and Roger-Vasselin will now face Italian defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori in the semifinals.
A few hours earlier, Siegemund had been eliminated in doubles. Teaming up with Russian Vera Zvonareva, the 38-year-old lost 4-6, 5-7 in the quarterfinals to Canadian Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani of Brazil.
