Schröder shines in the final quarter: Cavs turn Game 5 around and take the series

The Cleveland Cavaliers have won Game 5 against the Toronto Raptors by 125:120 and secured a 3:2 lead. Cleveland turned the game around, especially in the final quarter.

Much went in the visitors’ favor for a long time. Toronto led 74:67 at half-time and went straight into the lead after the break. Although the Cavaliers worked their way back bit by bit, they still trailed 100:103 before the final period.

The game then changed completely in the fourth quarter. Cleveland started with an 8:0 run, took control again for the first time and put the Raptors under increasing pressure. Evan Mobley (23 PTS, 3/3 3FG) in particular hit important shots in this spell, including two crucial threes to take the lead.

Cavs impress as a collective – Schröder becomes the match winner

Dennis Schröder also took responsibility. The guard scored 11 of his 19 points in the final period and brought additional dynamism to the Cavs’ offense. Overall, several players scored in double figures, including James Harden (23 points) and Donovan Mitchell (19).

Toronto completely lost its rhythm in offense in the final quarter. The Raptors missed their first eleven shots and hit just seven of 28 attempts overall. Although RJ Barrett (25 points) and Ja’Kobe Walter (20) kept the game open for a long time, the poor shooting percentage made itself felt in crunch time.

The Raptors also had to cope with a setback: Brandon Ingram left the game as early as the second quarter with heel problems. Cleveland took advantage of the situation, remained stable in the final period and now takes the series back to Toronto with a 3:2 lead.
