Champions Galatasaray didn’t miss a beat in Antalya, winning 3-0 thanks in part to two former Bundesliga pros. Now they are not far from spending the winter at the top of the table.
Galatasaray has suffered only one defeat in the current SüperLig season – and the chances are good that it will remain that way until the end of the year. Cim Bom secured an unchallenged 3-0 win against Antalyaspor, which is threatened with relegation. Goals from two former Bundesliga pros paved the way for the mandatory victory: First, Sané feinted past an opponent and fired home his sixth goal of the season (7′). Former Freiburg player Sallai, once again deployed at right-back, took advantage of one of his forays forward shortly afterwards to make it 2-0 with a low shot (11′).
Sané also sets up the 4-1
At half-time, the club from the resort town brought on Dutchman van de Streek, who was successful as a substitute (69th minute), but by then there was hardly any excitement left in the game. Top striker Osimhen had already made it 3-0 shortly after the restart (50th minute). The other prominent center forward in the squad once again came off the bench—and scored again: Icardi’s fifth substitute goal of the season—assisted by Sané—rounded off the away win in stoppage time. The Argentine now has a total of eight goals.
Galatasaray (39 points) are now formally only two points away from winning the autumn championship, but due to their clearly better goal difference over second-placed Trabzonspor (34), a draw against Kasimpasa next Sunday (6 p.m.) will in all likelihood be enough to secure their place at the top at the turn of the year.
However, if Trabzon slips up against Besiktas this Sunday (6 p.m.), the calculation will be irrelevant anyway.
