Rune comeback after injury

Tennis star Holger Rune wants to celebrate his comeback in Hamburg. The former protégé of Boris Becker tore his Achilles tendon last year.

Holger Rune is currently going through the most difficult phase of his young career, but the Danish tennis pro will soon be over the worst. After tearing his Achilles tendon last October, the former protégé of Boris Becker wants to return to the tour – at the ATP tournament in Hamburg.

“The hard work begins in Hamburg,” Rune was quoted as saying in the organizer’s announcement. He “can hardly wait” to return to Hamburg “and finally experience the atmosphere there again after such a long break”, said the 22-year-old.

Tennis: Zverev also starts in Hamburg

In addition to Rune, top German player Alexander Zverev is also in the line-up for the tournament, which will be held at the Rothenbaum in Hamburg from 17 May and will also be used by numerous professionals as preparation for the French Open afterwards.

Rune suffered the serious injury in October at the ATP tournament in Stockholm. He then had to undergo surgery and start a long period of rehabilitation.
