Return to L.A.: Doncic sits courtside in Madrid

Just a few days before the start of the NBA playoffs, the currently injured Luka Doncic appeared at a game for his former club Real Madrid. His return to the USA is therefore likely to be at least brief.

Luka Doncic’s serious thigh injury is now almost two weeks old. It is still completely unclear when and to what extent the Slovenian will be available for the Lakers in the upcoming first round of the playoffs against Houston.

After a few days of treatment in the USA, Doncic traveled to Madrid for special treatment, where he was to undergo several injections to speed up his recovery.

The always well-informed NBA reporter Shams Charania had reported as recently as Monday that Doncic was to return to Los Angeles on Tuesday. As has now become known, this was apparently not the case. According to the Slovenian website “Ekipa”, the return trip has been postponed until Friday.

Doncic sees his former club win

Only hours after the report, Doncic himself verified the information by appearing on the sidelines of his former club Real Madrid. The build-up player took his first steps in the professional game at the Spanish top club from 2015 to 2018.

Thursday evening’s game – at which Doncic was present – marked the end of the regular EuroLeague season for the Whites. The Spaniards won the clash with traditional club Red Star Belgrade by a clear margin and thus qualified for the playoffs in third place in the main round.
