Return abroad: Rose signs for Bournemouth

Since his dismissal in Leipzig around a year ago, Marco Rose has no longer been active on the touchline as a coach. That will change again next season, with the 49-year-old moving to AFC Bournemouth.

Just a few days ago, Andoni Iraola announced his departure as coach of AFC Bournemouth at the end of the season. The name Marco Rose was also quickly floated as his successor. Now everything happened very quickly. On Monday, the Cherries announced the signing of Rose, who will take over from the new season and receive a contract until June 30, 2029.

Return abroad after seven years

Rose is set to return to the coaching bench in the summer after more than a year, having had to resign from RB Leipzig in March of last year. He is still under contract there until the end of June, but from July 1, Rose will officially be without a club. The Saxons will therefore probably no longer receive a transfer fee.

Rose is thus returning abroad after seven years. Born in Leipzig, he left RB Salzburg in 2019 after numerous spells with the club to join Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga (2019-2021). This was followed by spells at Borussia Dortmund (2021-2022) and most recently Leipzig (2022-2025). In recent months, there have also been rumors of a move to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Next year in Europe?

The Cherries are currently in 8th place in the current Premier League season, but still have legitimate hopes of competing in European competition. Five games before the end of the season, Bournemoth, who have not lost in 13 league games, are level on points with sixth-placed Chelsea.
