Regensburg team doctor receives FIFA Fair Play Award 2025

A great honor for Andreas Harlass-Neuking. The team doctor of third division club SSV Jahn Regensburg has been awarded the FIFA Fair Play Award 2025.

Jahn Regensburg has been relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga and is now fighting to stay in the 3rd league. However, a game in April from their second division days has now resulted in an honor. Even before the Upper Palatinate team’s match on the 30th match day at 1. FC Magdeburg (0:3), Andreas Harlass-Neuking had to intervene. The SSV team doctor resuscitated a fan in the home block. The specialist, who has been working for Regensburg since 1995, then “ensured that the Magdeburg fan was stable enough to be taken to a nearby hospital,” according to the FIFA statement.

The world governing body issued the statement because Harlass-Neuking was awarded the 2025 Fair Play Award by FIFA for his actions in Magdeburg.

Congratulations from Infantino

“Congratulations to Dr. Andreas Harlass-Neuking on winning the FIFA Fair Play Award 2025 for your quick thinking and swift action in saving the life of a 1. FC Magdeburg fan during a 2nd Bundesliga match,” wrote FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Instagram: “Your sportsmanship, selflessness, and compassion reflect the best aspects of our beautiful sport.”
