When a top star ends his career in FIFA Career Mode, he comes back to life the following year. The so-called ReGens. How and where do I search for them?
Career end and Cristiano Ronaldo? While in real life he still wants to continue playing until the 2026 World Cup, things may be different in FIFA career mode. There it is more likely that the 37-year-old will hang up his virtual boots after the first season. Depending on the mood of the game.
Not surprising: When a player leaves the big stage, he disappears from the game. Conversely, does this mean that if I want to play with Cristiano Ronaldo in my managerial career, I can only bet on two cards? Either contract extensions for the player or a start with the team CR7 plays for?
Not quite, because there is a little loophole: the so-called ReGens. As the term suggests, these are reincarnations. eFootball/PES players will probably take notice. There, retired players appear in the junior training centre. Same name, same appearance, only different age and lower attributes. That means: Despite a few grey hairs, Gianluigi Buffon celebrates his “comeback” as a 16-year-old.
This may be unrealistic, but the reincarnations are thus easier to find. In FIFA, things are different. Name and appearance are changed here, but still: There are some clues to the search.
Scouting: criteria and location
First, the scout goes on a working trip – namely to the country where, for example, CR7 was last active. That’s where the ReGens begin their careers. But be careful, because this does not always have to be the case. The transfer market is also a possible starting point, but more on that later.
Once the plane has landed and the scout sets out on his search, he can look for the attribute “promising”. The age criterion should be a maximum of 19 to 20 years. The rest is relatively simple.
Thus, ReGens have the exact same position and potential as their role models. The nationality and height are also identical. Except for the year, the date of birth is also identical. However, this information is rather hidden. It can be found under “Edit player” in the team menu.
To get an overview of who is ending their career and when, it is worth taking a look at the news feed in the game menu. Sometimes, however, commentators announce the retirement of a star during a match. If you want to be on the safe side, you can put the ageing top star on your wish list in the transfer centre. The profile there will indicate when the player is planning to end his career.
Quick hands in the transfer market
With this, the virtual manager is well prepared, because: The CPU-controlled competition never sleeps. This becomes a challenge especially when the reincarnations are not to be found right on the doorstep. Instead of possibly being in your own youth team, they sometimes start out as players without contracts on the transfer market.
Then the main thing is to be quick, because the AI teams do not hesitate in negotiations. In this case, that means biting the bullet. Since scouting takes several days, the young player has to be signed on the off-chance. After all, no transfer fee is due, only the salary.
