Out in the first round: A setback for Korpatsch

Disappointment for Tamara Korpatsch. Her run at the WTA tournament in Beijing has come to an end in the very first round.

Professional tennis player Tamara Korpatsch has suffered a setback at the WTA tournament in Beijing, going out in the first round.

The German number one lost her opening match in China 2–6, 6–7 (4–7) to Taylah Preston of Australia. For the Hamburg-born player, this was her first match since her first-round exit at the US Open at the end of August.

From a German perspective, this means there is now only one player left in the tournament in Beijing. On Thursday, Eva Lys will face local favourite Sun Xinran, who is ranked 582nd in the world.
