“One of Germany’s top talents”: BVB signs Kaba to a professional contract

Borussia Dortmund has secured Mussa Kaba on a long-term deal. As BVB announced on its official website, the 17-year-old midfield prospect has signed a long-term contract.

Dortmund underscored its commitment to rejuvenating the squad on Tuesday with the signing of 19-year-old defender Joane Gadou, who comes from RB Salzburg.

But the club’s own youth players are also set to play a significant role in the Westphalians’ future plans. This is in line with the news that the eight-time champions have signed their German junior national team player Mussa Kaba to a professional contract. The 17-year-old midfielder signed a long-term contract on Thursday, as Dortmund announced on the club’s website.

Book impressed by Kaba’s potential

There, Ole Book explains the reasons for securing Kaba’s future with the club: “Mussa possesses tremendous soccer skills and an impressive physique. With his talent, he is one of the greatest prospects in German soccer,” said the BVB sporting director. “We believe he has what it takes to make the leap to our professional squad, but we will also give him the time he needs to get there.”

The youngster made it into the matchday squad once

Kaba joined BVB in 2018 and has played for all of Dortmund’s youth teams since the U11s. This season, the youngster made six appearances for the U23s in the Regionalliga West. The German-Guinean also started twice for BVB in the Premier League International Cup, where the team won the final 1-0 against Real Madrid on Tuesday evening. Kaba made his first appearance in the professional squad after the winter break in the match against Eintracht Frankfurt (3-3), but did not see any playing time.

Kaba, who has made 16 appearances for the German U-17 team (scoring one goal), expressed his gratitude: “I’m grateful for the trust Borussia Dortmund has placed in me, and I’ll continue to work hard every day to repay that trust. “I am proud to wear the black-and-yellow jersey and want to do my part to help BVB succeed.”
