“One of Germany’s greatest young talents”: Raebiger moves to Fürth

SpVgg Greuther Fürth have signed junior international Sidney Raebiger (17). The midfielder has signed with the Kleeblatt for three years – Leipzig, however, have a buy-back option.

Raebiger will receive a contract in Fürth until 2025. The midfielder’s original contract in Leipzig ran until 2024, but he no longer wanted to extend it. “We are delighted that one of Germany’s greatest young talents has made a conscious decision to join Spielvereinigung,” Fürth’s managing director of sport Rachid Azzouzi said in the cloverleaf’s press release.

Raebiger became the youngest player in Leipzig’s club history to make his competitive debut in the DFB Cup against SV Sandhausen in August 2021 and his Bundesliga debut against FSV Mainz in January, making him the fourth-youngest Bundesliga player of all time. While the talented midfielder rarely made an appearance in Leipzig, he will now get the chance to gain match practice and develop further in Fürth.

“The right decision for me “

Raebiger will be given the number 6 at Fürth. “The Fürth officials have made a lot of effort to find me and I am convinced that the move to the cloverleaf is the right decision for me,” said the newcomer. Currently, the Central Franconians are in training camp in Saalfelden. Raebiger will be on the training pitch there from tomorrow onwards.
