According to media reports, Andreas Obst is set to extend his contract with FC Bayern Munich. The World and European champion’s contract expires in the summer of 2026.
As reported by Rupert Fabig (Abendblatt) and Robert Heusel (BiG), Andreas Obst has extended his contract in Munich on a long-term basis and will remain loyal to FC Bayern. An official announcement is expected to follow shortly.
In recent months, rumors have been rife, with Dubai being mentioned as a possible suitor for the guard’s services. His advisor, Misko Raznatovic, recently vehemently denied these reports on X, and sporting director Dragan Tarlac also dismissed them as fiction on the sidelines of the cup final.
“However, we are in talks with Andi and believe that he will stay with us,” said Tarlac in a small media roundtable, which basketball-world.news also attended. “Nothing has been decided yet; negotiations are just beginning.” The Serbian emphasized that extending Obst’s contract is a top priority.
Obst is having the best season of his career
The 29-year-old has been playing for Munich since 2021 and has continued to develop over the years. This season, the Halle native has finally become the face of the team, scoring at least 30 points in three EuroLeague games, among other achievements. In 2024/25, he set a new league record against FC Barcelona with eleven three-pointers. Over the season, Obst has already made 84 long-range shots, more than anyone else in the EuroLeague, cementing his reputation as Europe’s best shooter. With an average of 15.5 points, the guard is also Bayern’s top scorer. Obst recently took a break from the DBB team and did not participate in the two windows in November and February, but the shooter has already accumulated 93 international games (9.2 PPG, 42 percent three-pointers) since 2017.
