The Milwaukee Bucks have already taken drastic steps in the offseason to keep their superstar for the long term. But Giannis Antetokounmpo remains undecided — and is asking himself the key question: Is this roster good enough for another title?
Giannis Antetokounmpo is still keeping his future with the Milwaukee Bucks open. As NBA insider Shams Charania reports on ESPN’s Get Up Show, the two-time MVP has not yet decided whether to stay in Milwaukee or join a new team despite intensive talks.
“Nothing is set in stone yet – no decision has been made,” Charania said. “He keeps asking himself, ‘Can I win a championship with this roster?’ That’s the key question for him.”
Bucks desperate to keep Giannis
Meanwhile, the Bucks are doing everything they can to keep their franchise star. Among other things, Damian Lillard was released and his contract was extended to create financial leeway – also for the recently acquired Myles Turner.
Nevertheless, Antetokounmpo seems to doubt whether the new team is competitive enough to enable him to win a second title. According to Charania, several teams are ready to pounce should the Greek decide to make a move this offseason.
“Giannis has been in Milwaukee for twelve years, which doesn’t make the decision any easier. But ultimately, it’s up to him alone whether he believes in the future of this team,” Charania said.
