Nigel Mansell auctions Williams helmet and IndyCar trophy with no reserve price

Nigel Mansell, 1992 Formula 1 world champion and 1993 IndyCar champion, is once again parting with some treasures from his personal motorsport archive.

Nigel Mansell, now 72 years old, Formula 1 world champion in 1992 and IndyCar champion in 1993, is not calling for an auction for the first time, at which some rarities from his personal collection will go under the hammer. What’s special this time is that there is no minimum bid.

Among the items to be auctioned on February 10, 2026, by British auction house Budds are a full-size replica helmet signed by Mansell from his successful 1992 Formula 1 season, as well as the trophy he received as Rookie of the Year in the 1993 IndyCar series.

Also up for auction are a pair of Mansell-signed racing shoes and a limited edition Williams model car, the FW14B from the 1992 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, also signed by him. The most expensive item is the IndyCar Rookie trophy, which is estimated to be worth between €2,800 and €3,500. The signed replica helmet follows with an estimated value of €1,150 to €1,700.
“Hello everyone! The Nigel Mansell Personal Collection will go under the hammer at Budds.com in February 2026,“ Mansell said in an Instagram video. ”Acquire a piece of my personal collection.“

”I want these items to be cherished by you, the fans. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but you’ll have to be quick because I might buy some of them back,” said Mansell with a grin. In recent years, Mansell has already sold parts of his personal motorsport archive. In 2023, a 324-piece collection of memorabilia changed hands at an RM Sotheby’s auction for the equivalent of more than two million euros.

During his Formula 1 career, which spanned 187 Grands Prix between 1980 and 1995, Mansell won one world championship title, 31 races, 59 podium finishes, 32 pole positions, and 30 fastest laps. As reigning Formula 1 world champion, the Briton switched to the IndyCar series, where he became champion in 1993 as a rookie with five season victories. In 2010, at the age of 56, Mansell took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first and only time, together with his sons Greg and Leo. However, the family team did not get very far in the race. Nigel crashed his LMP1 car into the guardrail on the fifth lap.
